continuing a theme he sounded last month, glenn greenwald makes an excellent case here (with a followup here) for why bush loyalists are really not true conservatives. there's no better explanation for how they could possibly support the exploding deficits, unprecedented intrusions into civil liberties and shameless assertions of unchecked executive power we see from the bush regime. (and part of why i admire glenn so much is that he's only been blogging for three months.)
he seems to struggle to come up with the appropriate label for bush ideologues, ultimately arriving at "authoritarian cultists." but i think it's even clearer: i'd call the political manifestation of their ideology a fundamentalist christian military dictatorship. or more succinctly, fascism.
